I am a certified teacher with over fifteen years of experience in education. I love teaching, and I love my subject, science. I currently live and teach in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
I've taught most of the sciences, including AP biology (BIO 100), biology, chemistry, physical science, marine biology and environmental science, as well as college-level composition (ENG 102). I've taught in Japan, Colombia, and the Northern Marianas, and a few places in the United States. Because of the time I spent in South America, I'm fluent in Spanish.
I am passionate about teaching science and I ensure that my enthusiasm for science is contagious by giving assignments that are engaging and meaningful. Students in my class extract DNA from cheek cells and take on parts such as ATP-Synthase and energized electrons in role-plays. I integrate the arts by having the students perform plays on the making of proteins, draw cartoons that describe the process of DNA synthesis and write songs about photosynthesis and respiration.e
